Absorption chillers


Air conditioning system on the basis of absorption cooling machine (absorption chiller) is a universal system for servicing a great number of rooms simultaneously (depending on system capacity). The main feature of an absorption chiller is the absence of compressor in a traditional form; absorption cycle performs the functions of a compressor. In absorption machines refrigerant is H2O.

As a «source of energy» for cooling in absorption chillers the following substances are used: natural gas, fuel oil and another inflammable mixture (depending on burner type).

Absorption chillers with natural gas and other combustible materials work for both cooling and heating. In heating mode shortened cycle of chiller operation is used. Besides, the appliance of advanced technologies in completing cooling machines results in high efficiency.

Air conditioning systems on the basis of absorption cooling machine are designed with the same construction as standard «chiller – fancoil» systems.

The main advantages of absorption cycle systems are:
1. Usage of ecologically clean refrigerant and safekeeping of Earth ozone layer.
2. A big choice of system fuel.
3. Expanding capacity that allows step-by-step commissioning of large objects.
4. The maximum distance between chiller and fancoil is restricted only by pump station working characteristics.
5. Microclimate can be controlled in every separate room.
6. The system works for both cooling (summer) and heating (winter).
7. Smooth changing of cooling machines capacities.


Equipment

YMPC

York model YMPC-F/EX is a series of absorption chiller-heater units having a nominal cooling capacity range of 106 kW to 352 kW. The nominal heating capacity range is 86 to 286 kW.

This range of absorption units use the most environmentally clean refrigerant — WATER. They can be operated by either natural gas or fuel oil. Tradional electrically driven chillers generally use halogenated refrigerants, which can cause ozone depletion and have a high global warming potential.

The Mini-Paraflow has excellent part load performance as a result of the refrigerant storage load proportional control (RS proportional control), which is incorporated to provide stable control and reduced energy consumption. Absorption systems have a unique heat storage capability created by concentration difference. York’s unique RS proportional control manages the cooling capacity and utilises the storage capability to its highest extent. The control cycles the burner, but keeps the solution and refrigerant pump in continuous operation to transfer the residual heat of the generators into useful cooling capacity. This results in the saving of large amounts of energy that would normally be wasted by the cycling of the unit.


YIA

YIA Millennium Single-stage steam or Water Absorption Liquid chillers use the earths most environment friendly refrigerant — WATER — which is totally free of ozone depletion and global warming effects. By using waste heat or clean burning natural gas these machines are responsible for far less carbon dioxide production and acid rain producing emissions per kW of cooling than electrically driven machines.

In contrast to many absorption chillers using chromates or arsenates as corrosion inhibitors York absorption chillers use molybdate inhibitors which are not classified as a hazardous waste.

Microprocessor Control System for control and display of all parameters on a 40 character alphanumeric display. Memory for 4 operation or fault modes. Remote control, remote setting of chilled water leaving temperature. YORK ISN energy management interface (optional interface for «non-ISN» building automation systems).
