Water cooled and remote air cooled chillers


Water cooled chillers heat directly either water or ambient air through auxiliary equipment (remote condensers, dry coolers or water cooling towers).

Equipment

YCWL Zafiro

YORK Zafiro is a series of highly efficient water-cooled chillers, fitted with scroll compressors and shell and tubes heat exchangers. They can provide chilled water for all air conditioning applications that use central station air handling or terminal units. They are designed for inside installation within a plant room. The series comprises 14 different sizes ranging from 188 kW to 580 kW and two levels of operating efficiency (Standard efficiency SE and High efficiency HE).

Zafiro is the first R410A water-cooled chiller using scroll compressors to obtain A-Class certification from Eurovent. By combining the latest available technology in scroll compression with YORK state-of-the-art heat exchanger design, Zafiro reaches unmatched Full Load COP values as high as 5.17.

Additionally, the incorporation of multiple scroll compressors results in high part load efficiencies. Having its compressors always running at full load, Zafiro does not suffer efficiency reduction at part load. With ESEER (European Seasonal Energy Effi ciency Ratio) values as high as 7.24, Zafiro operates at efficiency levels never reached before with similar technology.


YCSE

YORK YCSE Water Cooled Liquid Chillers are a compact design suitable for chilled water or glycol cooling. They are designed to be located inside a plant room and require a cooling tower or dry cooler for heat rejection. Units are available with one or two independent refrigerant circuits with a single evaporator and condenser.

The units utilise advanced electronic control to position the variable capacity control slide valve within each compressor. This ensures exact load control, accurate chilled water temperature control and improved part load performance.

The unit shall be completely factory assembled with all interconnecting refrigerant piping and wiring ready for field installation. After assembly the unit shall have a fully tested with water flowing through the evaporator and condenser. The unit shall be pressure tested, evacuated and fully charged with refrigerant and oil.

The unit base and frame shall be of heavy gauge galvanised steel fastened with stainless steel nuts and bolts. Steel parts shall be electrostatically painted in Carribean Blue.


YLCS

York YLCS Water Cooled Screw Chillers are a compact design suitable for water or water-glycol cooling. Models are available in three versions: standard units (SA), units for applications requiring high condensing temperatures (HA) and units for applications where remote condensers are necessary (AA). Semi-hermetic twin helical screw compressors are provided to ensure high operational efficiencies and reliable performance. They are designed to be located in a plant room and require a cooling tower or dry cooler for heat rejection.

YLCS models shall be completely assembled with all interconnecting refrigerant piping and internal wiring, ready for field installation. SA and HA units shall be pressure tested, evacuated, and fully factory charged with refrigerant and oil in each of the independent refrigerant circuits. For AA units, the unit shall be pressure tested, evacuated, and filled with 0.35 bar g pressure of nitrogen per independant circuit.

Unit to have final overspray paint after assembly (optional) by customer request.


YN

The YN range of chillers are designed for water or water/glycol cooling. The twin screw compressor is open drive and close coupled to the motor. Heat exchangers are the flooded type with refrigerant passing through the cooler and condenser shells and water in the tubes.

Capacity selection is computerised so that chiller components can be customed matched to meet individual building load energy requirements. A Cooling Tower or Dry Cooler is required for heat rejection. All units are designed for plant room installation.


YR

York YR chillers are manufactured to the highest design and construction standards to ensure high performance, reliability and adaptability to all types of air conditioning installations. The units are intended for cooling water or glycol solutions. YR chillers are designed and built within an EN ISO 9001 accredited design and manufacturing organisation and, within the limits specified in this manual, are in conformity with the essential health and safety requirements of the following European Union Directives:
  • Machinery Directive (89/392/EEC)
  • Low Voltage Directive (73/23/EEC, EN 60204)
  • EMC Directive (89/336/EEC)
  • PED 97/23/EC (Vessels only)


YK

The YK range of chillers are designed for water or water/glycol cooling. The centrifugal compressor is open drive and close coupled to the motor. Heat exchangers are the flooded type with refrigerant passing through the cooler and condenser shells and water in the tubes. Capacity selection is computerised so that chiller components can be custom-matched to meet individual building load energy requirements. A Cooling Tower or Dry Cooler is required for heat rejection. All units are designed for plant room installation.

The compressor is a single-stage centrifugal type powered by an open-drive electric motor. The housing is fully accessible with vertical circular joints, with the complete operating assembly removable from the compressor and scroll housing. Compressor castings are designed for 18 bar working pressure and hydrostatically pressure tested at 27,5 bar.

The YORK OptiView Control Panel is a microprocessor based control system for YK centrifugal chillers. It controls the leaving chilled liquid temperature via pre-rotation vane (PRV) controls and has the ability to limit motor current via control of the PRV. It is compatible with the standard electro-mechanical starter, optional YORK Solid State Starter (SSS) and optional OptiSpeed Variable Speed Drive (VSD) applications.


OM

YORK Multistage Industrial Chillers offer a complete combination of features for total owner satisfaction — for district energy, central plant and similar demanding industrial chiller applications up to 30000 kW capacity.

YORK OM chillers can be applied in many ways and with many modifications to suit the most intricate application. These chillers are designed with such drivers as induction or synchronous electric motors, condensing and/or exhausting steam turbines, gas or diesel engines or gas turbines. They can be applied to a broad range of brine cooling requirements; for heat recovery or heat pumps; and for river or sea water, closed water circuit (radiator) or air-cooled condensing.
